Some peopld think restored windows are not energy efficient.
Some people believe what new manufacturers tell them
that- "drafty old windows have no worth and should be disposed"
Even the USGBC only gives LEED credits to new windows
because they are thought to be more energy efficient.
The TRUTH is that Restoration Works has been restoring
and making original wood windows
energy efficient for over 20 years
Every joint is made tight and has full dimension, even edges.
A proprietary weatherstripping stystem based on both the old and the new is used.
We can convert most original windows to insulation glass when desired.
We can slo provide a caulking program for all strategic areas surrounding a window.
When we have been tested for efficiency, we are always as good and often better than the new window to which we are compared.

In restoring windows, we save original forest wood, and reduce the window footprint in absorbing new trees for materials.

Additionally, both energy consumption and pollutions effecting enviormental impacts are reduced in the transportation and
processing of new materials. By recycling instead of disposing windows, we also help reduce landfill volume
Our shop is State Of The Art Restoration Facility With our epoxy restoration, we use safety equipment and a special mixing chamber.
We use down draft tables,and HEPA vacuum technology in our shops and field work as well as advanced dust collection systems.
In glazing we use recylcled masking paper, green paper towels, and recycled glass when requested.
